Do I love my followers? I do!!! And maybe it’s the glass of wine speaking, but I’d like more wine. Or maybe it’s that I’m high on Peeps (thanks Mom!), but I’m feeling the love tonight and I want to share it with you.

The love, not the Peeps or wine. Because both are gone. Sorry.

Anyway, I want to give you a present. Yes, YOU! Well, only one of you. But it could be you!

Long ago I announced that I would give a pair of mouse ears to a Facebook follower once I reaching 125 followers. Sad to say that I kinda forgot about it, but I promise not to flake this time. Really. I promise.

And not only a set of mouse ears–I will personally give you TWO sets of mouse ears. That’s right–TWO! One for you and one for that other person you want to impress. I don’t mind if you say “I paid someone to go to Disneyland to buy these mouse ears for you because I love you and will you marry me?” I mean, if you don’t want to disclose that you got the ears for free, who am I to judge? And I hope you have a lovely wedding.

PLUS! I will actually wait for the cast members to embroider your name on the back. Life was so much simpler, and faster, when the cast members did their own hat writing (did you know that the hat writing sewing machines only went in two directions? Down and to the side? Hat writing cast members had to learn how to write names both inside-out and backwards while shoving the hat through the machine. Now it’s all pre-programmed, which is a bit on the lame side. But anyway…).

The good news is that there are more than one way to enter. That’s right! It’s like getting two lottery tickets for the price of one, but even better is that the price of one is free. Incidentally, if you already have mouse ears, you can get them for your friends or anyone else you want to impress. Talk about a great 4th of July gift.

ANYway, here’s how it goes. I’m going to count up the comments here, so if you don’t leave a comment on this thread, it doesn’t count. Comment link is in the upper right-hand corner of the post. Here’s the ways to enter:

1) Leave a comment telling me your favorite MYWTM post to date

2) Like me on Facebook and leave me a comment saying you did so. If you’re already one of my Facebook friends, just leave me a comment saying that you are.

3) Convince a friend to visit this blog. When they leave a comment, they can name themselves AND you and you’re both entered in the drawing. Some sample conversation starters: “Hi–let me tell you about this awesome blog I follow–My Year With The Mouse.” or “Hey baby, what’s your sign? Have you heard about this blog, My Year With The Mouse?” or  “Do you come here often? You should read this blog, My Year With The Mouse, so I can win some free mouse ears. And also, can I buy you a drink?” or  “OMG, that outfit is so adorable and it totally makes your butt look small! Leave a comment on My Year With The Mouse so I can win free stuff.” Feel free to vary according to relationship and/or circumstance. Your mileage may vary.

4) Convince a friend to Like me on Facebook and have them leave a comment with both their name and yours. It’s kind of like #3 but with that vital social media outlet tie-in.

I mean really, at the end of the day, don’t we all want to be Liked? I think it’s no coincidence that Facebook used the word Like to denote association with other people including your mom’s cousin’s sister’s dog’s former owner who totally want to hear about the distinct minutae of your life.

Contest is open until midnight Pacific time on Monday, May 2nd. Remember–the more people you can bully/intimidate/convince to read the blog and like me on Facebook, the higher your chances are of winning!

You may already be a winner! If you already entered. Although unfortunately, I’m not going to show up on your doorstep with a bunch of balloons and a ridiculously giant oversized check you will never be able to actually cash. Also, Ed McMahon will not be announcing the winner. I hope you can live with that.

My favorite post was when you took your little boy all the way to Florida for his first haircut.

    Too cute!!!

Well, I’ve done it. After Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me I’ve been reading your blog with interest and envy and now I’ve liked you on facebook and I’m hopeful to soon be dropping a pair of ears on each of my kids to further excite their anticipation for our own next trip (whenever that may be). Anyway, I also really like the Jungle Cruise post, probably because I’ve always loved that ride and all the many goofy jokes. My own dad was a captain on those very boats long ago and the pun filled humor perfectly suits his personality and always makes me think of him fondly.

    Anyway, novel over..

I think my favorite post was on the innoventions building…because I’m not a fan of it either! I love to hear about what it used to be though, and the people mover tracks that are still there…i want people mover back!!

  6. BruinKristin April 28, 2011 at 9:04 am

Hmmmm Can’t pick a fav because I liked them all so much – maybe the MNO post partly because I was in it and looked like a dork (which I really don’t mind because dorky is in now right?) but mostly because it was such a fun night! PS- Are you going to post the Sister Wives photo from that night???! PSS – I’ll take my ears with “Audrey” stitched on them. small child’s pink please.

My favorite would have to be the one where you went to the Mouse-In-Law. I just loved the photos of your adorable son. I have a daughter about the same age and I love reading your blog and seeing both of you enjoying Disney!

  8. mackenzimeetsengland April 28, 2011 at 1:38 pm

so many favourite posts! I loved your post about space mountain, because I love that ride. I loved the post about the pirate band, because I didn’t even know that existed. I loved your post about the Jungle Cruise, because it was hilarious. I loved your post about pinnochio ride because your son is braver than I am! Those scary rides are creepy! 🙂 I love your blog so much So glad Wait Wait sent me here…just another way that show has enhanced my life!

  9. PhotoAddict April 28, 2011 at 3:10 pm

My favorite post is the Buzz Lightyear post. We all LOVE that ride, and I especially to because I kick a$$ on it. My highest score to date is 648,110!! Yes thats right, eat it up, no one in my family has even come close!

  10. PhotoAddict April 28, 2011 at 3:10 pm

Oh… and if I win, give my ears to Audrey! Coop wont wear them.

  11. Amber Gamble April 28, 2011 at 4:19 pm

I really enjoyed the two blogs where you made fun of innoventions. Those were some of the first posts I read, then I had to go back to the begining (December) and read all of your earlier entries.

  12. Wendy Komori Stager April 28, 2011 at 7:41 pm

I loved the looking up one. I too have raced around Disneyland trying to get to the Matterhorn (the good side with the “drop”) or Space Mountain and haven’t really spent a lot of time with the vertical dimensions of Disneyland.

I loved your need to take a picture of your soon with the characters…I do the same :::blushes:::

First of all, I know I am already a winner… :). Second, I think my favorite are the Innoventions blogs, because I have not been in that building since it was America Sings, which I thought was cool. My family apparently instinctively knew it was lame (oh and they wouldn’t be able to handle being near Autopia and not actually in line for it…) Anyway, I always wondered what was in there, and I think I’m glad now that we never went in – I think my boys would’ve liked it and then I’d be really sad that I was the one who wanted to go in and then I had to stay there because they liked it.

PS – no way will anyone in MY house be seen dead with mouse ears – you can give mine to Audrey, too. 🙂

  17. Amanda April 29, 2011 at 12:55 pm

Hi! I’ve been following your Year with the Mouse blog and I think it’s absolutely fantastic. It’s great to see all the pictures and commentary from someone who can go so many times a year! Coming from someone who manages once a year…maybe…it’s a real treat. Thank you so much!

  18. Amanda April 29, 2011 at 12:58 pm

My favorite post was the one about Innoventions…not because I hate it, but because my boyfriend loved it and it convinced him to sit and read the blog with me!

  19. Kat S. April 29, 2011 at 8:56 pm

My favorite is definitely Theo’s First Haircut! That looked like such a fun experience and I wish Disneyland had a barbershop. Also, I adored seeing Theo before and after. At first I was like, “Aw, sweet baby curls going away.” then I was like, “Oh my gosh what a stud!”. It’s so fun seeing him in your blog as the boy I nanny is only two days younger than him!

  20. Valerie April 29, 2011 at 9:24 pm

My friend Kat told me to come and check out the blog, and I had to! I’ve just started reading back, but I think that my fave post so far is the “looking up” post. I think thats a great concept in general and something we don’t do enough, and knowing how much detail goes into everything disney does I should have thought to look up!

  21. Diana April 29, 2011 at 11:53 pm

My favorite post was the Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me post and I already like your blog on FaceBook!

  22. Phoebe April 29, 2011 at 11:59 pm

My daughter is a friend of yours and she told me to check out your blog! I’m a total SciFi geek so the Innoventions posts are my favorite.

I just recently started reading, and I liked the recent post on Mickey’s House. Definitely a must if you want to meet MM himself. 🙂

  25. Rebecca April 30, 2011 at 5:35 pm

I “like” MYWTM on Facebook. Thanks for the chance to win!

  26. Ragon April 30, 2011 at 7:31 pm

I think my favorite post was about the jungle cruise because, like you, I think the jokes are my favorite part. I love the cheesiness. In fact, the first time I ever went to Disneyland I didn’t know the jokes were scripted, I just thought the guide was really funny and I cracked up the whole time–I think I was the only one on the boat laughing hysterically! And you had my favorite joke in your blog–the one about the zebra! Next time Steve and I get a chance to go to Disneyland, we want to be in your blog!

  27. Bowmansinbavaria April 30, 2011 at 8:51 pm

I love reading your blog and can’t wait to someday plan my visit to Disneyland. My favorite recent post is the one about looking up. It was fascinating to learn that the scale of the buildings gets progressively smaller.

    I’m a Facebook fan!

  30. Jessica May 1, 2011 at 11:03 am

My favorite post was the one about visiting the Princesses. I never thought Disney would have an “after Ursula” Ariel.

I can’t wait to see if you come across Rapunzel. Tangled is my new favorite Disney movie.

  31. Bonnie May 1, 2011 at 4:13 pm

I think my favorite post was the one about the Jungle Cruise. It’s the ride I remember most fondly from my childhood, plus I love a corny joke. The post about churros runs a close second though because I love churros!

  32. Kelly May 1, 2011 at 5:27 pm

I would love you on Facebook if I could! Also when will you get to the post dedicated to explaining the precise scientific mechanism behind Disneyland’s amazing popcorn?

  33. Amy May 1, 2011 at 5:42 pm

My favorite posts are the ones like Carnation Plaza Gardens and the others involving the roaming bands because in my frenzied pursuit of riding all the rides I never take the time to enjoy the shows at the park and like having a chance to learn about them from you.

    • Shelby May 1, 2011 at 5:49 pm

Thank you! I have to say that one of my own favorite entries is the Pearly Band because it was such a delightful surprise to see them, and they put on such a fun show.

  34. Carissa May 1, 2011 at 6:42 pm

Okay…so I am trying to follow directions…I ofiicially love your blog and have been enjoying it for quite a long time now…since you started it? Anyway…my favorite post is the mom’s night out one in which you mention how big my ass is because it is blocking your perfect picture of the coolest bunch of gen x moms out there while on “Soaring”. Oh yeah…haha…I said it, “Soaring”. And I’ll do it again. Mickey ears with Phoebe the princess printed on them please cause that is what she is calling herself these days. I told like ten people last night about your blog! I am volunteering for your Tiki room post cause I (and the toddler) love it so much. Cause it’s a tropical hideaway….where the plants and the flowers and the birdies sing.

I know I might be too late but I have to say I loved the Innoventions post. When I want snark done right, this is where I come: a blog about Disneyland. That’s how good your snark is. And I’m a fan of Disneyland! Had so many good childhood memories there. Anyhoo!! Keep writing and keep sharing your fabulous observations!
