Hi guys! Still recovering from major surgery so no Disney posts, but I wanted to (finally) share some news.
In 2006, Kevin and I decided to grow our family through adoption. We started the process of adopting a little girl from China. After 6 long years, our dream has come true.
Please meet the soon-to-be newest member of the My Year With The Mouse family…
Violet Yuemin Hogan
A dream is a wish your heart makes…our dream was you
On the evening of November 7th we will board a plane to China. On November 11th we will hold Violet for the first time, and on November 21st we will officially become a Forever Family.
Please gather up your Pixie Dust and Disney joy and celebrate with us!
And in anticipation of some questions I know you have, here are some joyful facts:
- Violet will be 16 months old when we adopt her.
- She is currently living in Yunnan Province in Southwestern China.
- Her Chinese name is Yue Min. Violet Yuemin Hogan is the name we have chosen for her.
- Kevin, Theo, my mom, and I are all going to China for our adoption trip. Our adoption is finalized on the 21st, and if you’re looking at the calendar, that’s the day before Thanksgiving, and also 3 days before our wedding anniversary. We have so much to be thankful for this year!
- No, I haven’t purchased Violet’s first pair of mouse ears yet. But soon…very soon!!!

My Year With The Mouse 
I’m so excited for you guys!!! Violet is gorgeous. Can’t wait to see some mouse ears on that little one. And, in a couple years, you’ll finally have a reason to walk into BBB 🙂
Hurray! Such exciting news! Our family was built through adoption too. And today is our daughter’s ‘gotcha day’. Both of our kids love to hear their special stories of how they came to us….and I still cry talking about it. I’m crying now thinking about how fortunate we are and how happy you must be!! Thanks for sharing the exciting news. We’ll be thinking of you next month (my sister adopted twice from Korea so I know how long that trip can be!)
PS – She is so darn cute. And I LOOOVVVVEEE the name Violet. Great choice!

Congrats! That is such wonderful news! A beautiful name for such an adorable little one! Such a great way to describe adoption:”A dream is a wish your heart makes…our dream was you” and a lovely disney reference too! My favorite aunt(she is more like a big sister) was adopted and I have close friends who adopted both their girls. It is such an amazing and joyous way to complete a family! I can’t wait to see more pics and hear about her first visit to Disneyland!

I am so glad you are traveling soon. I brought my daughter home last year, and I was just thinking this morning about how it feels like i’ve known her forever. I hope your recovery is going well, and I hope your travel preparations are also going well.
